Australia Day
Johnathan Biggins (playwright, political satirist and co creator of Sydney’s Wharf Revue) wrote Australia Day after several tours of duty as an Australia Day Ambassador.
It is an intimate look at the often thankless work of volunteers of the Australia Day Committee in the fictitious, regional town of Coriole.
Many of these communities are confronting changes on multiple fronts from tree changers to large multi national shops and companies.
It questions how much longer regional Australia can hold fast as the source of our national identity under these kind of changes.
Biggins’ sharp wit and observations of everyday Australians and a Committee provides a comedy filled with laughs.
