The Noosa Region

Noosa – Queensland – Australia

The Noosa Region is made up of several smaller towns and areas including: Noosaville, Sunshine Beach, Peregian Beach, Tewantin, The Noosa river on Gympie Terrace, and the country towns of Cooroy and Pomona.

Each spot is different having its own particular feel but all still encapsulate the overall style of Noosa.

The Noosa Region is a great base from which to also discover a lot more of Queensland, including Fraser Island and Harvey Bay.

Fraser Island is the worlds largest sand island, stretching over 120km. Panoramic viewpoints include Indian Head, a rocky outcrop on the island’s easternmost tip, and the Cathedrals, a cliff famous for sculpted ribbons of coloured sand. It’s a camping and ecotourism destination, with popular beaches and swimming sites at Lake McKenzie, Lake Wabby and other freshwater pools.

Harvey Bay is the perfect base for Whale watching during the annual northerly Humpback migration.

You can also head inland into the lush hinterland with its market towns such as Eumundi, Maleny, Montville and Pomona.

Check out the famous Eumundi Markets, Australia’s premier artisan market perfect if you’re looking for something different, something handmade, something special … Held every Wednesday and Saturday.

Pomona is the home of the majestic Theatre, which is one of the few pre-World War II picture theatres remaining in Queensland that have not been demolished or adapted to other uses. It is also Queensland’s longest continuously operating picture theatre. they show a range of old silent movies look out for the schedule.

Often not mentioned is that Noosa is only a short distance from the Sunshine Coast airport with flights from some major cites within Australia, so you can fly in direct from Sydney and drive into the Noosa paradise in less than 30 minutes.

This all adds up to make the Noosa Region a very unique location and one of the most special places in the world…..so enjoy the pelicans on the river, beautiful sunsets, take a canoe through the shallow inland water ways and swim off the pristine beaches of Tea Tree or Granite Bay, what ever you do make sure enjoy your time and fabulous Noosadays.
